Recently, I have branded each year with a theme. 2017 – “community” connected me with a cross-fit type of gym and monthly meetings with women veterans. 2018, the year of “broadcast” has seen us at more than 14 conferences and events connecting with hundreds of entrepreneurs throughout SoCal. New website. New team. Spent the first part of the year attending events and exhibiting at conferences in various communities. LA Times Book Fair, KJLH, East LA Veterans, Women's Expo, Veteran Business Resources, etc. Launching Solopreneur Zen, online classes but really they are moderated group sessions to overcome business challenges.
Attended my first WBENC conference to introduce books to supplier outreach teams to prepare diverse suppliers to become project-ready. A utility in Los Angeles piloted the GUIDED Impact competition based on our Founders Forum book. Received award along with Congresswomen Maxine Waters at the RISE Financial Pathways luncheon for me work with veterans. There is still a lot to do to make it easier for military families to pursue economic independence.
Started partnership with CAMEO to host meetups for military-connected women. Hosted workshop in Boston for veterans and exhibited at the AWBC conference in Wisconsin. Received so much love from clients when I revealed that I had spent eight months battling stage 3 breast cancer as a solopreneur.
A brand has developed! I also added Build to Scale, Gear Up and Millennial Start-Up to the family of books. My 6 states in 6 days sales tour coupled with back-to-back conferences took a toll. I faced a personal setback that I was able to overcome with a team and a plan.
